Congratulations for getting through another year! 2020 was tough.

@sincerelymedia

Along with the new year comes a desire to turn a corner and leave all of last year’s struggle behind us but — it’s not that simple…is it?

We can’t control what is out of our control, but one thing to remember is that we are all in this together and should reflect on what progress we have indeed made.

Let’s break down some of the things you can control this year:

  • Your perspective and mood
  • Your daily routine
  • Your carbon footprint
  • What you spend your money on
  • The clothes you buy

The new year period tends to see discounted gym memberships, long lists of resolutions and social media flooded with “new year, new me” captions.

Despite a more challenging start to the year, let’s be kind to ourselves and hopeful for the positive change that is coming our way!

What’s new this year?

@rupixen

The way we shop!

The retail sector has suffered hugely throughout the pandemic due to store closures and stay-at-home orders but, many businesses have taken their brick and mortar stores online where they continue to thrive.

Research highlights how the shift to e-commerce has accelerated hugely as a result of COVID-19. There’s been a 129% year-over-year growth in U.S. & Canadian e-commerce orders as of April 21 and an impressive 146% growth in all online retail orders.

And what would we have done without smaller, local retailers that have been our pillars of support? Lucky for them, they have seen surges in sales over the past year! Studies show that 56% of consumers are buying more locally sourced products with between 75–85% intending to keep this up.

But not only did 2020 see the remoulding of consumer habits in the fashion and retail industries but these changes were mirrored in areas of food waste, climate change, authentic and ethical consumption, work and travel.

As astrologer Susan Miller says in a Vogue interview, 2021 will see ‘people helping people on a grand scale’ and ‘a lot of innovation’.

With Millennials and Gen Z age groups as the driving forces for change, it is pretty exciting to think about what might come this year now with businesses adapting, the ease of online transactions and the speed of the internet.

What’s old this year?

The clothes in your closet. The new year does not suddenly imply the replacement of your belongings with new ones.

Remember: old is still wearable!

You can restyle your clothes, upcycle them, swap with a friend or buy some second hand. With Closit’s update due and a primed online market, what better time to download the app, empty your closet and get ready to sell?

The online marketplace awaits…

If you want to become one of our first online sellers, send us a message.
